“Tall and talented, Warren Mailley-Smith is the embodiment of a modern Romantic concert pianist…” Musical Opinion

Chopin’s Complete Works

In 2016 I became the first British pianist to perform Chopin’s complete works for solo piano from memory. This happened over a series of 11 recitals at St John’s Smith Square. It was hailed by the critics as an “epic achievement”, don’t I know it!  It took months and months of rehearsing. I have since gone on to repeat the series at several venues in 2018 and planning more in 2019.

I am currently recording the complete works of Chopin over a 3-year period for a 12-disc set for Sleeveless Records, so watch this site for more news!

Acclaimed Concert Pianist

I have also had the honour of playing solo recitals at The Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall and I have performed for the British Royal Family on numerous occasions. It has has been a busy year with over 60 solo performances a year.

My career has taken me all over the world, with solo performances in Australia, Europe and the most recent solo tours in China and the USA.  The year I have been performing to some wonderful audiences on the London concert scene in venues such as St Martin-in-the-Fields and St James’ Piccadilly.

Piano Concertos

To date I have 30+ piano concertos in my repertoire, having made my concerto debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

My discography of work has made an impact on critics, broadcasters and the public alike. My recordings have been featured by Classic FM as CD of the Week and my recordings are featured regularly on Classic FM and the BBC.

He is also an active chamber musician and is the Artistic Director of the Piccadilly Chamber Music Series and The Piccadilly Sinfonietta.

How did I get here?!

I studied with some of the world’s leading pedagogues, including Peter Feuchtwanger, Ronald Smith and John Barstow at The Royal College Of Music.

Today I am now a teacher in both masterclasses and private lessons. I have taught at Royal College of Music and Trinity Junior Departments and still tutor on a number of residential piano courses, including Pro Corda, Piano Week, Pianissimi and Finchcocks.

Warren has a keen interest in outreach work, collaborating with Live Music Now, Lost Chord and Music Hubs around the UK.

My favourite review!

“Rapidly establishing himself as one of the best pianists of his generation Warren Mailley-Smith is that rare exceptional talent who turns out to be utterly charming and down to earth with a gentle, self-depreciating sense of humour. Combined with his formidable technical skill and mature musicality, these attributes have made him a favourite for both audiences and St Martin’s staff alike.”  St Martin in the Field, Staff Pick of the Month, Aug 2010
